Deep Sea Groundfish
A groundfish trip is a true deep sea experience! Groudfishing on Jeffreys Ledge will give us the best opportunity to hook into many different species like haddock, cod, pollock, hake, cusk, redfish, shark, halibut and more! An average round trip to the fishing grounds and back is 56 miles.
We have top notch rods and reels that have high speed gear ratios to allow you to pluck your groundfish to the surface faster. This results in more groundfish caught during a trip. We also have two custom rods designed for catching halibut that we set out at certain times of the year.
If you want the mate or captain to fillet your fish, we can cut you some top notch fillets! Fill your freezer, eat all year and book again with us the following year!
We have both star drag and lever drag for people with a preference. We also have two electric reels for groundfish that we keep aboard, giving our passengers the option to use.
You will never know what you can come across on any trip! East Coast halibuts are rare, but booking an offshore groundfish trip can increase your odds!
If you book a groundfish charter during tuna season, the captain will have tuna gear aboard the boat just incase we come across some tuna during our charter, however the trip’s focus will be on groundfish.
Targeting certain groundfish is dependent on Federal or State regulations. Hooked On Fish Charters believes in sustainability and conservation. We follow all Federal and State guidelines.

Deposit Fees, Gratuity & Cancellations
- All trips require a deposit at the time of booking to reserve the day and time of your charter. The deposit is non-refundable if cancellation occurs within two weeks of the planned trip.
- If you cancel your trip two weeks before your booked charter date, your deposit will be refunded in full
- In the case of a cancellation due to bad weather or other conditions, deposits are fully refundable or can be applied toward a new date based upon availability.
** 50% deposit of the total rate is required to book and reserve your charter date.
**All deposits are applied to the cost of the the chosen charter rate.
Gratuity
- Manditory gratuity of at least 20% is required to be given to the mate or captain working on the boat at the end of the charter. This is the industry standard.
Disclaimers
- Trips may be cancelled due to weather, safety concerns, or any reason that affects the safety of the vessel and the guests on board.
- Federal illegal drugs are prohibited on board the Ashley Victoria. ***Please note: Laws are different in Federal waters than they are in certain States***
- Hard Liquor is prohibited.
- Customer is responsible for replacement or repair of lost or damaged equipment due to negligence.
- All commercial sized tunas that are caught on a charter and prepared for market are property of Hooked On Fish Charters, but you are the angler so there will be many opportunities to take photos with the commercial sized tuna. We also offer a 10% return trip discount on a charter where we catch a commercial sized tuna.
